Covered veranda of a Hillside Room with hammock and garden views

Hillside Rooms

Four ground-level double rooms set in various corners of the gardens, each with its own covered verandah and hammock.

Sleeps: 2

Beds: 1 double bed

Bathroom: 1 ensuite bathroom with bathtub and shower

Kitchen: No kitchen

Outdoor space: Private covered verandah with table, chairs and hammock

Wi-Fi: Complimentary Wi-Fi

Our Starting Category

Hillside Rooms are comfortable double rooms with their own verandahs. They are our starting accommodation category and suit couples and solo travellers who want a good room and outdoor space without needing the extra living area or kitchenette of a cottage or villa.

If you would like more space, have a look at the Gingerbread Cottages; for a more open outlook and balcony setting, compare the Balcony Rooms.

Verandahs Among the Gardens

Each Hillside Room opens onto its own covered verandah with a table, chairs and hammock — somewhere to sit with a book, have a drink, or simply look out into the gardens.

The four rooms are set in different parts of Hermitage, so their exact outlook and surroundings vary. No two are quite the same, but all share that easy connection between the room, the verandah and the garden outside.

What Is Included

Breakfast is included with every stay.

A little Hermitage hospitality

We think breakfast is an important part of hospitality, and therefore include it with your stay. Afternoon refreshment is an important tradition too, so around 5pm we like to offer our guests tea, coffee or a little rum punch in the Great House — just about the time the monkeys tend to pass through the garden.

Richie

Beyond that, you have daily housekeeping, use of the pool with towels provided, Wi-Fi, drinking water, coffee and tea in the room, plus the restaurant, bar and tennis court. The Hermitage team is close at hand if you need a taxi, car rental, help planning a day out, or another practical detail taken care of.

Paid laundry service is available if you need it.

Where They Are

The Hillside Rooms are set in different parts of the gardens around the Great House and pool. All are on the ground floor, although Hermitage itself is built on a hillside, so paths between the rooms and the main house include lawns, slopes and garden paths.

If mobility is a consideration, let us know before booking and we can advise which accommodation may suit you best.
