Hermitage Book Club
“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.” Mason Cooley.
With more time staying where we are just now, we’d like to share some of the treasures from the shelves of our library. Many of these are penned by friends of ours and you will likely find these here when you come.
“Human Kind” by Brad Aronson is an uplifting collection of stories about people helping people.
“The Friends We Keep” by Jane Green. Just out on paperback now in the US, this is a cozy, curl up in a comfy spot, put a Do Not Disturb sign around your neck kind of book about a group of friends who lose each other, Â then find each other again and decide to live together in a sort of mini-commune. We won’t give any more away!
“Thanks A Lot” Mr Kibblewhite by Roger Daltrey is the 2018 memoir by legendary frontman from The Who, who is a dear friend to us and Nevis.
“Father Joe: The Man Who Saved My Soul” by Tony Hendra is an inspiring true story of finding faith, friendship, and family.
“Don’t Stop the Carnival” by Herman Wouk is the story of an American with a dream to leave the rat race and own a hotel in the islands. It’s timeless and entertaining – though for some of us the stories hit a bit too close to home.
We’ll share more with you next month. In the meantime, let us know what you’re reading.
Stay well, friends
Sounds of Hermitage
Since we’re all safe at home just now, we thought we’d share some of the sounds of Hermitage. This is what you’d hear wafting across the grounds if you were here. It’s a collection of Classical Chill with some island influence. Wish you could be here in person but til such time, this will have to do.
